Roles & Responsibilities<\/b><\/h2>\n

Safety Coordinator: Dertje Roggeveen<\/b><\/h3>\n

  • Oversees all safety procedures during the race.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Responds immediately to incidents such as capsized rowers.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Works closely with the race doctor throughout the event.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Serves as the main communication link between the rescue brigade, jury, and race doctor.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Drives the race doctor along the course and receives all incident reports.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Race Doctor: Jeroen Kelderman<\/b><\/h3>\n
      \n
    • Provides medical assistance when needed.<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Is transported along the course by the safety coordinator.<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Equipped with a first aid kit and AED at all times.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Rescue Brigade Co\u00f6rdinator: Marte Smit<\/b><\/h3>\n

      • Present on the water with four boats distributed along the course.<\/span><\/li>\n
      • First responders in case of water-related incidents.<\/span><\/li>\n
      • Maintain internal communication and radio contact with jury members and the safety coordinator.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        • Conduct pre-race checks for safety equipment (e.g., bow ball, heel strings).<\/span><\/li>\n

          • Operators are not rescue-trained but may be closest to a victim due to their location.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

            • Positioned along the banks of the course.<\/span><\/li>\n
            • Report capsized rowers directly to the safety coordinator.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                              This communication protocol is reviewed in detail during the morning jury briefing and printed for all involved parties.<\/span><\/p>\n

                                  • Remove the boat from the water as quickly as possible.<\/span><\/li>\n
                                  • Safety coordinator confirms over channel 2 once the rower has been reached.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                                    1. Notify the safety coordinator immediately via channel 2.<\/span><\/li>\n
                                    2. Nearest support boat approaches the rower \u2192 reports via radio when contact is made.<\/span><\/li>\n
                                    3. Remove the rower from the water \u2192 provide first aid and thermal blankets.<\/span><\/li>\n
                                    4. Remove the boat from the water.<\/span><\/li>\n
                                    5. Bring both rower and boat to shore \u2192 report exact location via channel 2.<\/span><\/li>\n
                                    6. Safety coordinator confirms when the rower has been reached.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
